Job summary

Carle Health is seeking an experienced LPN to join the NT4 Orthopedic-Urology Surgical Unit. The role involves medication administration, patient assessments, and collaboration with RNs and physicians in a 41-bed unit with a 1:4-6 nurse-to-patient ratio.

The unit emphasizes fast throughput with a focus on hip/knee replacements and trauma care. A $2,500 sign-on bonus is offered for external applicants willing to commit beyond one year.

Qualifications

• Must be a licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in good standing with IDFPR/Illinois or applicable state.
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
• Experience on an acute orthopedic/uroLOGY surgical unit is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications, including IV piggybacks, per RN instruction.
• Chart assessments and update care plans as directed by the RN.
• Coordinate with physicians/APPs for orders and patient care activities.
• Provide trach care, NG tube management, ostomy care, and discharge education as needed.
