Job summary

Carle Health is hiring an LPN for the NT4 Orth/Urology Surgical Unit. The role supports care for orthopedic and urology surgical patients, with a 41-bed unit and a 1:4-6 nurse-to-patient ratio. A $2,500 sign-on bonus is offered for external applicants with a commitment of 2 years.

The unit features full-time and part-time educators, nurse supervisors, and a strong collaborative culture with therapists to ensure a quick recovery pathway for patients.

Qualifications

• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) licensure is required.
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire (AHA).
• College Diploma: Licensed Practical Nurse (Required).

Responsibilities

• Pass medications, hang IV piggybacks and fluids (excludes IV Push).
• Chart assessments on assigned patients after RN has done initial assessment.
• Chart care plans that the RN has opened and update as needed.
• Coordinate with physicians/APPs for orders and dressing changes.
• Perform trach care as needed and manage NG tube care and feedings.
• Care for ostomy and provide discharge education.
