Job summary

MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center, part of Trinity Health, seeks a Patient Care Tech to support clinical staff with direct patient care and procedures on a 12-hour night shift in Des Moines, IA. The role includes assisting with activities of daily living, measuring vital signs, collecting specimens, and documenting in patient records under RN/LPN supervision.

Qualifications

• Must be 16 years of age.
• Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter – Child and/or Dependent Adult Abuse training within three (3) months of hire.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certified within six (6) weeks of hire.

Responsibilities

• Delivers assigned patient care and treatment as delegated by an RN or LPN.
• Performs activities of daily living and assists patients with personal hygiene, bathing, ambulation, feeding, and other care needs.
• Responds to patient calls and anticipates patient needs; ensures safety through safe patient handling and rounding.
• Measures vital signs and performs bedside glucose testing; observes and reports changes to the nurse.
• Makes entries to patient health records in accordance with policy and scope of duties.
• Initiates or assists with emergency support measures and post‑procedure setup as required.
