Job summary

MercyOne Medical Group is seeking a Patient Care Tech to support clinical staff by providing direct patient care and assisting with tests as assigned. This role covers 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM–7:30 AM) with rotating weekends and holidays in the Des Moines metro area.

The successful candidate will deliver patient care under RN/LPN supervision, assist with daily living activities, monitor vital signs, and help maintain a safe patient environment.

Qualifications

• Must be 16 years of age.
• Mandatory Reporter – Child and/or Dependent Adult Abuse training within three months of hire.
• American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers certified within six weeks of hire.

Responsibilities

• Delivers assigned patient care and treatment as delegated by an RN or LPN.
• Assists with activities of daily living and monitors patient needs.
• Responds to patient calls and ensures safety and comfort.
• Measures vital signs and collects specimens as required.
• Initiates or assists with emergency measures and patient safety tasks.
• Sets up equipment and prepares patients and rooms for procedures and transfers.
• Observes changes in patient condition and reports to the nurse.
• Discharges patients from the system.
