Job summary

MercyOne Des Moines is seeking a Patient Care Tech to support licensed clinicians with direct patient care and unit tasks. The role involves 12-hour day shifts (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM) with rotating weekends/holidays in Des Moines, Iowa.

Qualifications

• Must be 16 years of age.
• Mandatory Reporter – Child and/or Dependent Adult Abuse training due within three months of hire.
• American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers cert. within six weeks of hire.

Responsibilities

• Delivers assigned patient care and treatment as delegated by an RN or LPN.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living including hygiene and mobility.
• Responds to patient calls and maintains safety and comfort through rounding and safety measures.
• Records intake/output, vital signs, and basic tests; documents in health records.
• Prepares patients and rooms for procedures; sets up equipment and supplies.
• Observes changes in patient condition and reports to the nurse.
