Job summary

Carle Health is seeking an LPN for the NT4 Ortho-Urology Surgical Unit. The 41-bed unit specializes in acute ortho and urology care with DNV hip/knee replacement certification. Typical nurse-to-patient ratios range from 1:4 to 1:6, and the unit emphasizes teamwork with therapists and educators.

Qualifications

• LPN licensure required with applicable state regulations.
• BLS certification within 30 days required by AHA.
• College Diploma: Licensed Practical Nurse (Required).
• Competency in medication administration and patient assessment.

Responsibilities

• Passes all medications, including IV piggybacks and fluids, excluding IV Push meds.
• Charts assessments on assigned patients after RN completion of initial assessment.
• Contributes to care plans and updates orders in collaboration with the RN.
• Communicates with physicians/APPs to receive orders and coordinate care.
• Assist with dressing changes, NG tube care, and ostomy care as needed.
• Reinforce discharge instructions and patient education.
• Support unit operations in alignment with DNV Hip/Knee replacement program requirements.
