Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Patient Care Tech to support the clinical team under the supervision of the RN or physician. You will perform a range of patient care tasks, collect specimens, obtain EKGs, and assist with daily activities as outlined in the plan of care.

You will participate in hourly rounds, document patient data, and help maintain a safe care environment. Compliance with ethics, training, and performance improvement is emphasized.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited CNA program and listed on the state of Illinois CNA Registry OR nursing student with one clinical rotation; verification required.
• BLS through American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Collect, label and transport specimens as assigned.
• Obtain 12 lead EKGs and assist with urinary/medical devices.
• Perform Point of Care Testing as appropriate and assist with patient hygiene.
• Conduct hourly patient rounding and document care data as directed.
• Assist with ambulation, positioning and safety of patients; respond to call lights promptly.
