Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Patient Care Tech to support RN-driven patient care in a busy unit. You will assist with vital signs, daily living activities, and basic nursing tasks under supervision, while helping maintain a clean, organized environment.

The role requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, and credentials such as CNA, CMA, EMT, or a nursing student with one semester of clinical experience, plus BLS.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Certified Nursing Assistant, Certified Medical Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician, or nursing student with one semester of clinical completed.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS).

Responsibilities

• Performs basic nursing care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN, including monitoring vital signs and recording intake and output.
• Assists patients with personal care and activities of daily living such as bathing, grooming and eating.
• Reports abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental or emotional conditions to nursing staff.
• Keeps patient rooms clean and orderly.
• Demonstrates flexibility, organization and multitasking in stressful situations.
• Prioritizes unit work and coordinates with the charge RN and/or assistant manager.
• Acts as liaison between patient care units and other departments.
• Answers calls and communicates information to staff, family or patient.
• Manages unit workflow during assigned periods.
