Job summary

Millersville University seeks an Orientation Planning Committee (OPC) Member for AY 2026-27. The role supports recruitment, training, supervision of Orientation Leaders, and coordination of the university's orientation program.

It is a 10-month, in-person position with a varied schedule and evenings/weekends as required. The OPC member works with the Director of Orientation Programs, contributing to leader development and program delivery for thousands of incoming students.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled Millersville University student in at least their second year.
• Enrolled in classes at Millersville University for Spring and Fall semesters of the upcoming year (2027).
• A minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.50 at the time of application.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the University’s existing orientation program.
• Demonstrated emotional maturity and ability to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, hire, train, and supervise a team of 20 to 50 Orientation Leaders. Specific responsibilities include: Planning and delivering activities to recruit qualified candidates to apply for the Orientation Leader position.
• Reading applications, interviewing candidates, and recommending qualified candidates for hire.
• Developing and implementing a training program which meets the needs of the orientation team.
• Assigning work to Orientation Leaders to ensure the orientation program has adequate coverage for events and activities.
• Directly supervise, meet with, support, and lead a sub-team of Orientation Leaders throughout the planned orientation program.
