Job summary

American University is seeking a Graduate Assistant for Orientation (Student) on the Main Campus in Washington, DC. This in-person, part-time role supports New Student & Family Programs by helping plan and implement orientation activities for fall and spring starts and assisting with related programs throughout the year.

The position requires enrollment as a graduate student, a bachelor’s degree, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications

• Must have a bachelor's degree and currently be enrolled in a master’s or doctoral program.
• Strong written and oral communication skills, including public speaking.
• Ability to work independently and on a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning and executing New Student Orientation.
• Coordinate outreach for campus partner involvement in Orientation Leader training.
• Oversee Off-Campus Excursions for New Student Orientation.
• Maintain records for Flight Ready Canvas course.
• Lead summer webinar series and assess outcomes.
• Represent NSFP at campus events.
• Other duties as assigned.
