Louisiana Special School District seeks an Orientation & Mobility Teacher for the Louisiana School for the Visually Impaired. The 9‑month, full‑time position serves students with visual impairments and requires implementing the LSDVI instructional philosophy and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

Holders of a current Louisiana teaching certificate or appropriate out-of-state credentials are encouraged to apply; alternative certification candidates are welcome with enrolled program

Qualifications

• Holds a current Louisiana teaching certificate.
• Out-of-state teaching certificates may be accepted with proper endorsements.
• Candidate may qualify via approved alternative teacher preparation program.

Responsibilities

• Implement LSDVI instructional philosophy and curricula in outreach services.
• Understand and apply special education rules and regulations.
• Demonstrate knowledge of children with disabilities, especially visual impairments, and coordinate with specialists.
• Maintain organized records and protect student confidentiality as required by law.
• Demonstrate professional conduct, reliability, and timely communication with stakeholders.
• Provide outreach and travel across Louisiana to support children and families.
