Job summary

LifeSource in Minneapolis seeks an Organ Procurement Surgeon to perform abdominal organ recovery from deceased donors, ensuring alignment with national standards and donor dignity. You will coordinate with hospital teams, transplant centers, and regulatory bodies to maximize organ utilization for transplantation and research.

The role requires travel across Minnesota and nearby states, on-call availability, and commitment to ongoing education with professional organizations.

Qualifications

• Completion of ASTS transplant fellowship preferred or MD/DO with 5 years’ organ recovery experience.
• Detail oriented and highly organized with initiative.
• Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs surgical recovery of abdominal organs from deceased donors.
• Collaborates with donor hospitals and transplant centers.
• Performs organ biopsies and coordinates pathology evaluation.
• Maintains organ preservation and prepares for cannulation.
• Documents procedures accurately in the EMR.
• Travels within Minnesota and neighboring states as required.
