Job summary

Gift of Hope in Illinois is seeking a transplant surgeon to procure abdominal organs for the organization's donation program, ensuring the highest quality of care during recovery.

Responsibilities include responding to donor hospital calls for abdominal organ recovery, participating in NRP/ECMO procedures, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to support families and advance organ and tissue donation.

Qualifications

• MD degree and board eligibility/certification as a transplant surgeon.
• Current State of Illinois physician licensure.
• Experience working with OPOs and understanding regulatory/network structures.

Responsibilities

• Respond to donor hospital calls for abdominal organ recovery and participate in organ recovery.
• Participate in training for in-vivo abdominal normothermic regional perfusion (NRP) and ex-vivo liver perfusion when indicated.
• Promote professionalism in the operating room during the recovery process.
• Present and participate in meetings regarding donation issues in the recovery process.
• Maintain a case log of all organ recoveries.
