Job summary

The Center for Organ Recovery & Education (CORE) seeks an Organ Procurement Coordinator to evaluate and manage donors, coordinate OR teams, and ensure procurement and preservation of post-mortem organs. The role requires effective communication with families and healthcare professionals, and compliance with CORE and national policies.

Qualifications

• Registered nurse, physician assistant, respiratory therapist, or paramedic.
• Master of Science in Human Donation Science or health sciences degree required.
• 4+ years of experience in other critical care fields preferred.
• On scheduled days of call, available to work up to 24 hours.
• Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing at least 60 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and manage donors at hospitals within CORE’s service area, and some hospitals in the United States and Canada.
• Serve as designated requestor for CORE’s Donor Services Area (DSA).
• Discuss donation opportunities with families and obtain/document authorization.
• Coordinate operating room staff involved in organ recoveries.
• Perfuse and preserve post-mortem organs as part of the recovery process.
• Report donor case outcomes to families, donor hospitals, physicians, and other healthcare professionals as required.
• Assist CORE Professional Services Liaison team with educational programs for healthcare professionals and attend key physician meetings.
• Fulfill other job-related functions as directed by CORE leadership.
