Job summary

UC San Diego is seeking an Assistant Coordinator - Per Diem in Lifesharing to respond to organ donor referrals from area hospitals, obtain on-site information within 2 hours, and document findings in the Lifesharing system.

The role involves frequent travel, on-site visits, and a 24-hour call schedule, with 4–6 shifts per month. Bachelor-level coursework preferred; valid driver’s license required.

Qualifications

• Must hold valid driver's license, have a driving record that is in accordance with local policies/ procedures, and/or enroll in the California Employer Pull Notice Program.
• Some experience in the medical field or Organ Procurement or equivalent college course work.
• Some college coursework.
• Experience with EMR systems.
• Experience with Documentation and charting within EMR systems.
• Knowledge of or training in medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Respond to organ donor referrals from San Diego and Imperial County hospitals.
• Obtain information on-site from hospital staff within 2 hours of referral and document in Lifesharing system.
• Communicate referral findings to the Administrator on Call and provide clear follow-up instructions.
• Conduct daily on-site visits of existing referrals and assist Procurement Coordinators during organ donor cases.
• Work on a 24-hour call schedule with travel across service area.
