In operations since 1983, the mine uses conventional open-pit mining methods with large electric-powered shovels that can each move up to 100,000 tons of waste rock and ore per day.

Thompson Creek Mine promotes a drug and alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a zero-tolerance policy with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site.

  • Collect representative samples and ensure geological, sampling, and assay data are accurately validated, recorded, and maintained in auditable databases and digital filing systems.
  • Perform routine field inspections in active mining areas to monitor ore exposure, geological contacts, and mining conformance to ore control boundaries.
  • Assist in maintaining geological databases and ensuring data is entered, checked, and validated in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Conduct pit wall and bench geological or structural mapping and communicate relevant observations to Senior Mine Geologist or geotechnical personnel.
  • Assist with stockpile management and material tracking to support accurate ore accounting and reconciliation.
  • Provide geological support to mine operations, mine planning, engineering, metallurgy, and other site groups as required.
  • Coordinate with Survey for the set-out and pick-up of drill hole collars, ore control patterns, stockpiles, and dig advances.
  • Actively support and participate in site safety, health, and environmental programs and ensure all work is carried out in compliance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
