Job summary

Centerra Gold Inc. is seeking a Manager, Technical Services for the Thompson Creek Mine in Idaho. The role focuses on strategic leadership of mining, geology, engineering, survey, and geotechnical functions to deliver safe, cost-effective practices and optimal resource extraction.

You will align departmental goals with site strategy, oversee multi-year mine plans and budgets, and mentor technical staff while ensuring safety and governance standards are met. Relocation or rotation is possible.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, or related discipline.
• Advanced qualifications in mine planning, mineral economics, or management preferred.
• 10+ years’ experience in open pit mining with at least 5 years in a technical services leadership or management role.

Responsibilities

• Align the technical services department and goals with site vision and planning.
• Oversee development and execution of short-, medium-, and long-term mine plans, budgets, and production strategies.
• Ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance in mine designs, resource estimations, and studies.
• Manage design, construction, and commissioning of mine infrastructures.
• Lead the budgeting process for the site and coordinate with mining teams.

AboutThompson Creek Mine

The Thompson Creek Mine is a primary, surface molybdenum mine and mill located approximately 48 kilometers southwest of the town of Challis in Idaho's Custer County.

In operations since 1983, the mineuses conventional open-pit mining methods with large electric-powered shovels that can each move up to 100,000 tons of waste rock and ore per day.

Thompson Creek Minepromotes a drug and alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a zero-tolerance policy with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site.

About The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Manager, Technical Services t o join our Thompson Creek team. Open to candidates willing to relocate to Idaho or working a rotational schedule such as 14x7, etc.

Under the direction of the Operations Manager, the Technical Services Manager provides strategic leadership and management of all technical disciplines supporting mining, including mine planning, geology, engineering, survey, and geotechnical functions. The manager ensures the delivery of safe, cost-effective practices and optimum extraction of resources in alignment with Centerra’s policies and procedures.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Align the technical services department and individual goals with site vision and strategic planning initiatives.
• Oversee the development and execution of short, medium, and long-term mine plans, budgets, and production strategies to meet business targets.
• Ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance in mine designs, resource estimations, technical studies, and reporting.
• Manage the design, construction, and commissioning of mine infrastructures.
• Lead the business planning process, including operational costs as well as potential capital needs, to create a budget for the site.
• Coordinate technical services activities to support contract mining teams and align plans with production and development schedules.
• Implement and promote continuous improvement initiatives, adopting new technologies and best practices.
• Mentor, develop, and manage technical staff, including knowledge transfer and performance management.
• Conduct performance evaluations, recommend promotions and carry out corrective actions as needed.
• Prepare and deliver accurate technical reports, forecasts, and presentations for management and stakeholders.
• Ensure adherence to safety, environmental, and corporate governance standards in all technical service activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

About You

To qualify, the following skills and experiences are required :

• Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, or a related discipline.
• Advanced qualifications in mine planning, mineral economics, or management preferred.
• 10+ years’ experience in open pit mining with at least 5 years in a technical services leadership or management role.
• Extensive expertise in mine planning, geotechnical analysis, geology, budgeting, and regulatory compliance.
• Strong leadership, strategic thinking, problem-solving, and team development capabilities.
• Possesses good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as a member of the management team.
• Strong oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
