Job summary

Jobtailor seeks a CAD/Drafting professional to transform customer specifications into precise, fully detailed orders. You will interpret templates, prepare manufacturing drawings, and coordinate with teams to ensure accuracy from plan to fabrication.

You will leverage AutoCAD and drafting principles to read blueprints, solve complex math problems, and address engineering issues quickly, maintaining safety standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or higher in related field required.
• Associates degree or technical training preferred in CAD/drafting.
• Experience with door/building materials or hollow metal industries desirable.

Responsibilities

• Interpret customer information and create detailed orders meeting requirements.
• Process customer orders from basic stock to highly configured designs.
• Interpret hardware templates and prepare drawings for manufacturing.
• Create and revise detailed drawings from customer plans with correct dimensions.
• Address engineering concerns before fabrication and resolve discrepancies.
• Communicate with customers about discrepancies and conflicts.
• Document information requests and changes using established protocol.
• Provide technical support to manufacturing and customers.
• Collaborate across teams to ensure project success.
• Promote safety and code of conduct compliance.

Job description

• Interpret customer-provided information and construct fully detailed orders satisfying customer, application, regulatory and manufacturing requirements.
  


• Process customer orders accurately, ranging from basic stock to highly configured orders.
  


• Interpret hardware templates and prepare detailed drawings for manufacturing requirements.
  


• Create and/or revise detailed drawings using customer plans and elevations, including section and detail views, annotations and correct dimensions.
  


• Anticipate, question and research concerns, resolving engineering issues before fabrication.
  


• Communicate with customers about discrepancies and application conflicts.
  


• Document information requests, clarifications, correspondence and changes using established protocol.
  


• Provide technical, product application and problem-solving support to manufacturing and customers.
  


• Function effectively in a team environment across all areas of the business.
  


• Promote a safe and harmonious working environment and adhere to the ASSA ABLOY Code of Conduct and Health & Safety Policy.
  


• Perform other duties as required.
  

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED / Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Engineering, Business or a related field, preferred.
  


• Associates degree or completion of a technical trade school in Computer Aided Drafting, mathematics or related field, strongly preferred.
  


• Previous experience/exposure to working within the Door, Building Materials and/or Hollow Metal industries are highly desirable.
  


• Complex math and problem-solving skills required, including developed understanding of Algebra and Geometry.
  


• AutoCAD detailing experience preferred.
  


• Blueprint/template reading skills required.
  


• Ability to read and comprehend structural and architectural drawings.
  


• Strong knowledge of detailing principles of drawings preferred.
  


• Previous exposure to reading schematics, blueprints, renderings or architectural drawings is highly desirable.
  


• Excellent computer skills preferred (Word, Excel, Internet, email, etc.).
  


• Proficient communication skills, both verbal and written.
  


• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, organizational, follow-up and a sense of urgency are required.
  


• Must excel working in a fast-paced environment.
  


• Some overtime is required.
