Job summary

Cowboy Space Corp. in California is seeking a DSP Software Engineer to design, implement, and optimize real-time signal processing software for space-based communications and sensing systems.

You will collaborate with FPGA, RF, avionics, and embedded software teams to deploy high-performance C/C++ on embedded processors, validate algorithms with Python or MATLAB, and support flight hardware bring-up. This role offers impact on spacecraft performance and opportunities to shape the future of space

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering, CS, Applied Math, or related field.
• 5+ years of professional DSP software experience.
• Strong programming skills in C/C++.
• Solid understanding of DSP fundamentals.
• Experience on embedded real-time systems and Linux environments.
• Familiarity with Python, MATLAB for development/validation.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize real-time DSP algorithms for flight systems.
• Implement high-performance software in C/C++ for embedded/RT applications.
• Develop algorithms for filtering, modulation, demodulation, synchronization, and channel estimation.
• Optimize DP processing for latency, throughput, memory, and power.
• Collaborate with FPGA to partition algorithms between software and logic.
• Work with RF, avionics, and systems teams to integrate DSP with hardware.
• Validate algorithms via simulation, lab tests, and HIL setups.
• Develop test frameworks using Python or MATLAB.
• Assist in system integration and performance characterization during flight tests.
• Participate in architecture reviews and code reviews.
• Contribute to CI and automated testing pipelines.
