Job summary

Talent Portus seeks an Oracle OCI Cloud Engineer to design and manage OCI environments, including DB, middleware, and infrastructure. You will develop Oracle APEX apps, ORDS services, and administer WebLogic, DB upgrades, and backup strategies.

A strong scripting background (Python/JavaScript) and experience with DBaaS are essential. The role requires 10+ years of Oracle experience, on-call readiness, and a hybrid work pattern with 3 days on-site in Richmond, VA, and 2 days remote, including

Responsibilities

Design and manage Oracle OCI environments including DB, middleware, and infrastructure

Implement and manage backup, recovery, and replication using RMAN
Ensure high availability and disaster recovery

Role: Oracle OCI Cloud Engineer

Location: Richmond, VA 23219 Hybrid

Duration: 12+ months

Visa: All Visa Need Genuine Visa Only

Interview: Webcam and F2F/In Person

Description

*some after-hours and weekend hours required based on workload
*candidate must participate in on-call rotation
It will be hybrid with 3 days at work and 2 days remote, candidate should be available evenings and weekends on-demand. We will have one or two rounds of technical interview followed by work sample(machine test) at VDH HQ for about 2 hours.
They should be able to provide after hours and weekend support to apply patches and other maintenance activities.

Required Skills

10+ years of hands-on experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and related technologies:

Oracle Application Express 18 and higher(APEX)

Oracle Rest Data Services 22 and higher (ORDS)

Oracle WebLogic Server 14(both fusion middleware and weblogic suite)

Oracle Database 19c and 26ai

Container Database (CDB) and Pluggable Database (PDB)

Experience with upgrading Oracle Database from 19c to 26ai

Proficiency in Linux/Unix, including shell scripting

PDB cloning

RMAN and backup/recovery procedures

WebLogic administration(patching/maintenance)

Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) 24ai

PSU Patching oracle db using Fleet Management Tool

Experience with DBaaS in OCI

Proficiency in Gitlab and Ansible scripting

Oracle dataguard

Additional Requirements

Strong understanding of cloud computing concepts and architecture
Ability to design and implement high-availability and disaster recovery solutions
Experience with Oracle OEM Cloud Control for monitoring and management
Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python and JavaScript
In-depth knowledge of database security best practices
Expertise in performance tuning and optimization
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong communication and collaboration abilities
Ability to provide 24/7 support and troubleshoot critical issues

Desirable Skills

Certification in Oracle technologies such as OCIP, OCP, or OCE
Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or GitLab CI
Understanding of microservices architecture and API integration
