Responsibilities

• Assists the perioperative nurse, anesthesiologist and surgeon in patient care duties including correct positioning and maintaining body alignment.
• Transports patients to and from the Operating Room, Post Anesthesia Care Unit and SurgiCenter.
• Assists in maintaining patient safety during anesthesia induction and intraoperative positioning.
• Provides orthopedic traction setup and assists in applying/removing casts.
• Performs pre-operative skin preparations and reports outcomes to the Perioperative Nurse.
• Inspects and decontaminates operating room furniture and ensures readiness for sterile supplies.
• Ensures procurement of supplies and equipment for the OR, Central Sterile Reprocessing and SurgiCenter.
• Assists in OR setup for daily surgical schedule maintaining aseptic technique.
• Orders and changes gas cylinders for various OR areas as requested by the department.
• Provides equipment for Orthopedics and Neurology for positioning and x-ray procedures.
• Maintains safety, infection control and environmental standards per policies.
