Job summary

WH Wheeling Hospital Inc. is seeking an OR scrub role to support the surgical team. The incumbent will provide intraoperative care, maintain sterile technique, and assist with instrument passing and patient positioning under the surgeon’s direction.

Qualified candidates will have LPN with scrub experience or surgical tech certification, and BLS within 30 days. The role requires standing for long periods and is based in Wheeling, WV.

Qualifications

• Must hold a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license with 2 years of scrub experience or complete a Surgical Technology Program with certification.
• Obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes quality aseptic technique in the OR.
• Assists the circulating RN to maintain a sterile field.
• Performs sponge, instrument and needle counts with the circulating RN.
• Assists with gowning and gloving surgeons and positioning equipment and instruments.
• Passes sterile instruments to the surgical team during procedures.
• Assists with patient transport and positioning as directed by the surgeon.
• Prepares supplies/equipment for procedures per preference cards.
• Maintains and sterilizes supplies/equipment; restocks inventories.
