Job summary

Advocate Health in Rock Hill, SC is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support the operating room team. You will prepare and pass instruments, maintain sterility, and assist the RN circulator during procedures.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, current BLS, graduation from an accredited surgical technology program (or military training), and NBSTSA/NCCT certification preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• BLS certification current required.
• Graduation from an accredited surgical technology program or military training in this field.
• NBSTSA or NCCT certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists in obtaining and organizing supplies and instruments prior, during and after surgical procedure.
• Assists Registered Nurse circulator in preparation of patient, assembly of supplies, instruments, equipment and proper disposition of all specimens; assists with room turnover.
• Performs duties according to department policy and procedure.
• Monitors surgical supplies and instrumentation for sterility prior to use and ensures that supplies are used judiciously and charges documented.
• Monitors and documents sterilization activities for completion.
• Attends in-services and staff meetings and participates in Performance Improvement processes.
• Participates in educational opportunities to increase competency and meet personal needs and goals.
• Assists in the development of policies, procedures, and standards.
