Job summary

MyMichigan Health in Michigan's facilities is seeking a Surgical Technologist II for the Operating Room. You will ensure sterile technique, assemble instruments, anticipate surgeon needs, and help manage medications, sharps, and sponges while maintaining the sterile field.

Responsibilities include verifying physician preference cards, preparing equipment, setting up sterile fields, and participating in performance improvement activities.

Qualifications

• Must complete a surgical technology program accredited by CAAHEP or military program.
• Certification as CST or NBSTSA eligible with certification upon hire.
• BLS certification and within 3 months of hire or transfer.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge of surgical procedures and problem solving; verifies items on physician preference card; accountable for supplies so that accurate patient charges are billed.
• Demonstrates proper use of equipment, assembling of equipment, disposables as well as cleaning and sterilizing; ensures all equipment, supplies and instruments are ready.
• Maintains the sterile environment; monitors the sterile field and recognizes breaks in technique.
• Sets up sterile field with instruments in a timely manner; keeps accurate counts of medications, sponges, instruments and sharps on the sterile fields per policy.
