Job summary

The University of Illinois Hospital & Health Sciences System (UI Health) in Chicago, IL is seeking a Surgical Technologist for the Hospital Operating Room on the Day shift. This 1.0 FTE role participates in preparing instrumentation and aseptic technique for scheduled cases.

Under RN and physician supervision, you will support instrument preparation, sponge and instrument counts, sterile field setup, and equipment maintenance to help ensure safe patient care.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Surgical Technology from an approved Illinois program.
• Current NBSTSA certification.
• Current CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Follow OR policies and procedures.
• Assist with instrument preparation, handling and sterile technique.
• Count sponges, needles and instruments with RN.
• Prepare medications on the sterile field under RN/MD direction.
• Assist with operating room setup and instrument clean-up.
• Maintain OR equipment and supplies.
