Job summary

University of Illinois Chicago (UI Health) is seeking a Surgical Technologist for the Hospital Operating Room in Chicago, IL. You will work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and Physician, performing aseptic preparation, instrument handling, and case support to ensure sterility and smooth surgical flow.

Required qualifications include an Associate's degree in Surgical Technology or NBSTSA certification, plus CPR.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Surgical Technology from an approved program or NBSTSA certification.
• Current CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Follows operating room policies and procedures.
• Assists in care, maintenance, distribution, and control of sterile and unsterile equipment.
• Prepare and arrange instruments and materials for scheduled operations while maintaining sterility.
• Complete sponge, needle and instrument counts with RN before, during, and after surgery.
• Prepare medications on sterile field under RN/MD direction (excluding narcotics).
• Assist with infusions and OR setup prior to procedures.
• Check equipment functioning before and after cases.
• Stock daily OR supplies and assist with instrument clean-up as needed.
