Job summary

MLK Community Healthcare in Los Angeles, CA is seeking a Surgical Support Aide to assist the nursing team in the operating rooms and Post Anesthesia Recovery Room. You will run errands, transport patients, assist with prepping, shaving, positioning, and help with equipment setup and room turnover.

Under supervision of a registered nurse, you will also stock carts, maintain aseptic technique, and participate in staff development activities as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/ GED required.
• At least 1 year hospital experience as CNA, Surgical Transport, Central Service Technician, or Instrument Technician.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Solid understanding of human anatomy and basic medical terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient transportation throughout the surgical suite.
• Assists with transfer of patient from surgical table to gurney or bed.
• Assists the nurse and anesthesiologist with transporting patient to Recovery Room.
• Assists with aseptic prep and equipment handling during procedures.
• Supports with between-case cleanup and room turnover.
