Job summary

Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Healthcare in Los Angeles seeks an Operating Room Technician to support the surgical team under perioperative leadership.

You will apply aseptic technique, prepare and set up instruments, and assist during procedures to ensure sterile fields and patient safety. The role requires at least 18 months of acute care perioperative experience, High School diploma, BLS, and CST preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required; BLS certification required.
• Certification as Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provides excellent customer service and clear communication with team.
• Establishes positive working relationships with peers, management and physicians.
• Communicates necessary information to Circulating Nurse or OR Supervisor promptly.
• Prioritizes responsibilities and multi-tasks efficiently.
• Works under pressure and remains calm in busy situations.
• Follows hospital policies and procedures.
• Assembles supplies/equipment for procedures.
• Maintains and monitors sterility of the surgical field and environment.
• Decontaminates, cleans, assembles and sterilizes instruments as needed.
• Works with circulating nurse to ensure accurate sponge/needle/instrument counts.
• Verifies equipment functions properly before procedures.
• Applies Watson Model of Care principles: Caring, Competence, Communication, Commitment.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
