Job summary

UPMC Somerset is seeking a Surgical Services Support Technician to join the Operating Room team. This full-time role involves assisting the RN and clinicians, contributing to patient care, and supporting case flow within Surgical Services.

The position offers four 10-hour shifts 6:00 AM-4:00 PM or 8:00 AM-6:00 PM, with occasional Saturday commitments each quarter for deep cleaning and department maintenance. A high school diploma and basic healthcare exposure are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Enrollment in healthcare training program with at least one clinical rotation preferred.
• Basic computer skills including keyboarding and electronic health records familiarity preferred.
• Strong written and oral communication abilities required.

Responsibilities

• Establish effective communication strategies with team and patients.
• Support the Surgical Services team to facilitate case flow.
• Assist with patient care tasks under RN supervision.
• Maintain a safe and clean department environment and proper equipment handling.
• Assist with instrument trays, supply handling, and sterile field setup.
• Communicate learning needs to preceptor and seek timely feedback.
• Ensure patient safety and comply with hospital policies.
