Job summary

Intermountain Healthcare's St. Marys Regional Hospital in Grand Junction, CO is seeking a Surgical Services Support Technician to safely transport patients, assist with turnover, and maintain sterile technique across OR, PACU, and SDS environments.

The role emphasizes teamwork with anesthesia and nursing staff, rapid response to cases, and adherence to safety protocols while supporting on-call and weekend shifts.

Qualifications

• BLS certification required for Healthcare Providers.
• Pass Basic Aseptic Technique class within 90 days of hire or transfer into role.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to fulfill on-call and weekend shift requirements and provide emergency staffing support as needed.

Responsibilities

• Transports patients safely to and from the OR holding area, PACU or patient rooms, assisting with lifting and positioning as needed.
• Consults with the anesthesiologist and RN to determine equipment, setup and supply needs prior to procedures.
• Prepare and restock case carts, dispose of sharps, and send carts to Sterile Processing for reprocessing.
• Set up fluid warmers, invasive lines and sterile supplies for anesthesia procedures when assigned.
• Turnover ORs by cleaning surfaces, removing trash, and preparing the room for the next case.
• Transport blood products and specimens to/from blood bank, OR, SDS, PACU and pathology labs with proper verification and safety protocols.
• Stock supplies in OR and SDS/PACU as directed.
• Complete training to scrub, gown, and glove as needed and support the surgeon per scope of practice.
