Job summary

MedStar Health’s Washington Hospital Center seeks an experienced OR Scheduling Manager to plan, organize, and control daily operating room activities, ensuring timely cases and optimal resource use. You will partner with the Anesthesia Leader and control desk teams to meet department goals and budgets while maintaining high-quality perioperative care.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Nursing is required.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing is preferred.
• 1-2 years operating room experience required.
• 3-4 years progressive management experience preferred.
• RN license in the District of Columbia required.
• CPR (BLS/NRP) for healthcare providers within 90 days required.
• CNOR certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manages the day-to-day operations of running the OR schedule and supervising weekday Control Desk staff and evening/night/weekend Supervisors.
• Collaborates with the Anesthesiology Medical Director and Anesthesiologist in charge to ensure efficient scheduling.
• Develops and enforces scheduling policies and procedures and adheres to case-type limits and start times.
• Monitors personnel allocation based on patient needs to maintain high-quality care and identify savings opportunities.
• Controls expenditures within budgets and coordinates with OR Business Manager to optimize the schedule.
• Monitors service quality and patient care standards at the department level.
• Investigates and resolves patient/family/Surgeon concerns and develops improvement plans.
• Attends division meetings and hospital committees as requested.
• Maintains knowledge of nursing trends and participates in related seminars and conferences.
• Promotes Pathway to Excellence standards in daily practice.
