Job summary

Horizon Surgery Center South in Jacksonville, FL, is seeking an Operating Room RN to provide direct patient care in the OR. You will support surgeons and anesthesia providers, ensuring patient safety, comfort, and dignity throughout the perioperative process.

The role offers a Monday–Friday schedule with no nights, weekends, holidays, or on-call. Active RN licensure, BLS/ACLS, and perioperative experience are preferred, with a strong emphasis on teamwork and patient advocacy.

Qualifications

• Active RN license required.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• Associate’s degree or higher in nursing is required.

Responsibilities

• Serve as circulating nurse, supporting patients, surgeons, and anesthesia staff during procedures.
• Prepare and maintain a safe, sterile, and efficient operating environment.
• Assess patient needs, provide reassurance, and involve families in care decisions when appropriate.
• Collaborate with the surgical team and communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and colleagues.
• Support patient safety, risk management, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Participate in staff education, orientation, and professional development.
• Organize and manage supplies, equipment, and staff for effective case management.

Role Summary:

What You’ll Do:

What You’ll Bring:

• Active RN license

• Current BLS and ACLS certification

• Associate’s degree or higher in nursing

• Perioperative nursing experience preferred

• Strong teamwork, communication, and patient-advocacy skills

Physical & Work Environment Requirements:

• Frequent standing, walking, and lifting

• Occasional stooping, kneeling, or climbing

• Regular interaction with patients of all ages in a fast-paced surgical environment

• Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs (occasionally up to 100 lbs) and meet physical demands of the role
