Job summary

Springfield Regional Outpatient Surgery Center in Springfield, OH is seeking an Operating Room RN to provide direct patient care and advocate for patients in the operating room. You will support surgeons, anesthesia providers, and the perioperative team to ensure safety, comfort, and dignity throughout procedures.

This role emphasizes teamwork, patient communication, and participation in ongoing staff education and quality improvement initiatives within a fast-paced ambulatory surgery setting.

Qualifications

• RN licensure with active status is required.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
• Associate degree or higher in nursing; perioperative experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as circulating nurse during procedures.
• Maintain a safe, sterile operating room environment.
• Assess patient needs and involve families in care decisions.

Role Summary:

The Operating Room RN provides direct patient care and serves as a patient advocate in the operating room. This role supports surgeons and anesthesia providers, ensuring patient safety, comfort, and dignity throughout the perioperative process.

Hours:

• Tuesday, Thursday and Friday schedule (hours variable)
• No nights, weekends, holidays, or call

What You’ll Do:

• Serve as circulating nurse, supporting patients, surgeons, and anesthesia staff during procedures
• Prepare and maintain a safe, sterile, and efficient operating environment
• Accurately assess patient needs, provide reassurance, and involve families in care decisions when appropriate
• Collaborate with the surgical team and communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and colleagues
• Support patient safety, risk management, and quality improvement initiatives
• Participate in staff education, orientation, and professional development
• Organize and manage supplies, equipment, and staff for effective case management

What You’ll Bring:

• Active RN license
• Current BLS and ACLS certification
• Associate’s degree or higher in nursing
• Perioperative nursing experience preferred
• Strong teamwork, communication, and patient-advocacy skills

Physical & Work Environment Requirements:

• Frequent standing, walking, and lifting
• Occasional stooping, kneeling, or climbing
• Regular interaction with patients of all ages in a fast-paced surgical environment
• Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs (occasionally up to 100 lbs) and meet physical demands of the role
