Job summary

Horizon Surgery Center South in Jacksonville, FL, is seeking an Operating Room RN to provide direct patient care in a fast-paced ambulatory surgical setting. You will support surgeons and anesthesia providers, ensuring patient safety and dignity throughout the perioperative process.

This full-time position offers a Monday–Friday schedule with no nights, weekends, holidays, or on-call requirements, and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Active RN license.
• Current BLS and ACLS certification required.
• Associate’s degree or higher in nursing.

Responsibilities

• Serve as circulating nurse, supporting surgeons and anesthesia staff during procedures.
• Prepare and maintain a safe, sterile operating environment.
• Assess patient needs, provide reassurance, and involve families in care decisions when appropriate.
• Collaborate with the surgical team and communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and colleagues.
• Support patient safety, risk management, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Participate in staff education, orientation and professional development.

Role Summary:

The Operating Room RN provides direct patient care and serves as a patient advocate in the operating room. This role supports surgeons and anesthesia providers, ensuring patient safety, comfort, and dignity throughout the perioperative process.

• Monday–Friday schedule
• No nights, weekends, holidays, or call

What You’ll Do:

• Serve as circulating nurse, supporting patients, surgeons, and anesthesia staff during procedures
• Prepare and maintain a safe, sterile, and efficient operating environment
• Accurately assess patient needs, provide reassurance, and involve families in care decisions when appropriate
• Collaborate with the surgical team and communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and colleagues
• Support patient safety, risk management, and quality improvement initiatives
• Participate in staff education, orientation, and professional development
• Organize and manage supplies, equipment, and staff for effective case management

What You’ll Bring:

• Active RN license
• Current BLS and ACLS certification
• Associate’s degree or higher in nursing
• Perioperative nursing experience preferred
• Strong teamwork, communication, and patient-advocacy skills

Physical & Work Environment Requirements:

• Frequent standing, walking, and lifting
• Occasional stooping, kneeling, or climbing
• Regular interaction with patients of all ages in a fast-paced surgical environment
• Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs (occasionally up to 100 lbs) and meet physical demands of the role
