Job summary

United Surgical Partners International-affiliated center in Vero Beach seeks an OR Circulating Registered Nurse on a PRN basis. Provides patient-centered perioperative care in orthopedic and neurologic procedures, coordinating with surgeons and teams to ensure safety and proper documentation.

Ideal candidate has Florida RN license, BLS/ACLS, and at least 1 year intra-operative experience. Location emphasizes weekdays with some evenings; competitive salary and benefits offered.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
• Currently licensed in Florida.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• One year experience required intra-operative setting.
• Experience in orthopedic surgical procedures is required. Experience in total joint surgical procedures is a plus.
• Demonstrates clinical competency, leadership, and teaching capabilities.
• Physically and emotionally capable of performing responsibilities of position.
• BSN preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates care for all age patients in operating room.
• Provides care within nursing standards of practice and the policies of the Center.
• Makes decisions regarding direct patient care needs and communicates appropriate information to physicians, patients, family members, and personnel in other departments as well as team members.
• May have additional responsibilities as designated by the Clinical Director, which include, but are not limited to, serving on committees, participating in quality improvement audits and projects.
• Circulating nurses may ensure all patient paperwork is completed, such as consent forms.
• During the procedure, nurses may also document what takes place.
• They are a patient advocate in that they assure safety procedures are being met.
• Circulating nurses may also replenish surgical supplies as needed during the procedure.
• After the procedure, they may verify instrument count and complete charting and other related duties.

We are currently searching for a OR Circulating Registered Nurse - PRN to join our team.

JOB SUMMARY

• Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates care for all age patients in operating room.

• Being detail oriented is also a needed skill for OR nurses. Small mistakes in the operating room can have a big impact on a patient’s condition. Nurses must also be able to handle several things at once. For instance, they may need to listen to the surgeon, monitor the patient and assist with the procedure at the same time.

Ideal candidate will be focused on excellent customer service, have the ability to multi-task, the ability to show flexibility in assignments, maintain scrupulous infection control standards, maintain professional competencies and have the ability to work as part of an interdependent multidisciplinary team.
