Job summary

Advocate Health Care is seeking a Perioperative Assistant to support the surgical team in the Christ Medical Center campus. The role involves patient transport, OR setup, and assisting with anesthesia and nursing tasks in a fast-paced surgical environment.

Required: High School diploma or equivalent and CNA certification. CPR and medical terminology knowledge are essential. Involves shift work in the OR with full-time hours.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent. CNA certification required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and CPR.
• Ability to use a computer keyboard.

Responsibilities

• Assists with direct patient care under Nursing Staff.
• Transports patients to and from OR tables, beds, wheelchairs, stretchers or carts.
• Assists with postmortem care and transports deceased patient to the morgue.
• Attends codes and assists physicians, anesthesia, and nurses as needed.
• Transports patients from units to the unit or PACU under nurse direction.
• Preps operating rooms and case carts, ensuring supplies are available.
• Assists with regional anesthesia positioning for blocks.
• Performs surgical preps and holds extremities as directed.
• Answers phones and relays information to OR staff as needed.
• Maintains stocked and orderly sterile core and supply areas.
