Advocate Health Care in Oak Lawn, IL is seeking a Perioperative Assistant to support the Operating Room and Nursing staff in direct patient care, patient transport, equipment handling, and sterile processing tasks.

This role requires CNA certification, a high school diploma, ability to lift up to 35 pounds, and readiness to rotate shifts; you will assist with surgical prep, patient positioning, specimen transport, and maintaining sterile rooms.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) required.
• Ability to lift up to 35 pounds and rotate shifts; willingness to be called off based on unit demands.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and CPR preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists with direct patient care under the direction of Nursing Staff.
• Transfers patients to and from OR tables, beds, wheelchairs, stretchers or carts.
• Assists with postoperative transport to the unit or PACU and with positioning for patient safety.
• Assists with regional anesthesia by holding the patient in position for spinal/epidural blocks.
• Performs preop/operative setup by holding extremities and assisting with surgical prep.
• Answers phones and communicates information to OR staff; maintains sterile supply areas and restocks as needed.
• Operates autoclaves and assists in handling sterile instruments and supplies.
• Transports patients, supplies, and equipment to and from OR; maintains cleanliness of OR and adjacent areas.
• Maintains inventory of supplies and ensures proper labeling and storage; supports Sterile Processing.
