Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a West Operating Room Registered Nurse to provide professional nursing care in a rotating, part-time capacity. The role involves coordinating patient care using the nursing process, communicating with patients and families, and collaborating with anesthesia and surgical teams to maintain high safety and quality standards.

Qualified candidates will have three+ years of acute nursing experience in Women and Children’s Services, a BSN, and certifications such as BLS

Qualifications

• Three or more years of current acute nursing experience within past 5 years in Women and Children’s Services.
• Completion of an accredited Registered Nurse program. BSN required for all new hires as of 1/1/2011.
• Must have PALS and/or NRP certification depending on areas floated.
• Basic computer knowledge and ability to communicate effectively in English.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates I-CARE values in daily work and interactions.
• Provides accurate information and timely updates to patients and customers.
• Addresses questions promptly and guides patients to resources.
• Collaborates with anesthesia, physicians and team to review and evaluate the plan of care.
• Maintains and ensures nursing documentation is timely, accurate and complete.
• Participates in education and mentoring of nursing staff and students.
