Job summary

Indian Health Service seeks a licensed Doctor of Optometry to deliver comprehensive eye care in federal healthcare settings. The role includes performing full ocular examinations, diagnosing and treating eye diseases, and providing emergency eye care in both outpatient and inpatient environments.

Applicants must hold a valid optometry license in the United States, have NBEO examinations, and be prepared for possible residency or years of professional experience for higher grades.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Optometry degree from an accredited program.
• Passing NBEO examinations and possession of a current, full license to practice optometry.
• One year of residency or professional experience at GS-12 level may be required or preferred.

Responsibilities

• Examinethe, diagnose, and treat diseases and disorders of the visual system, eye, and related structures.
• Diagnose and treat a wide range of eye diseases.
• Provide comprehensive primary eye care including examination, diagnosis, and treatment of ocular diseases and disorders.
• Provide emergency ocular care in outpatient and inpatient settings.
