Job summary

Acuity Eyecare Group in Portland, OR seeks an Optometrist to conduct eye exams and practice to the full extent of their license. You will support growth by educating patients and establishing long-term eye care relationships.

You will perform eye exams, take patient history, diagnose refractive errors and ocular diseases, prescribe eyewear, contact lenses, and medications, and provide pre- and postoperative care as needed.

Qualifications

• Doctorate of Optometry from a credentialed institution.
• Must have passed all optometric state boards.

Responsibilities

• Conducting Eye exams
• Establishing long term patient relationships through proper patient care and education
• Verbal interview with patient prior to examination to determine health and ocular history, medical issues, reasons for visit and visual needs
• Advises patients on options for remediation of ametropias, systemic and ocular disease and visual needs; hand-offs to support staff with recap discussion
• Promote eye health by counseling patients about cleaning and wearing contact lenses and frequency of eye exams
• Clearly communicating recommendations to opticians and sales staff for best lenses with latest coatings and designs
• Perform vision tests and analyze results
• Diagnose sight problems such as myopia and hyperopia and eye diseases
• Prescribe eyeglasses, contact lenses, and medications
• Provide pre- and postoperative care for eye surgery and post-op exams
• Evaluate patients for diseases such as diabetes and refer to other providers when needed
• Promote the profession and Acuity Eyecare Group values
