Job summary

Acuity Eyecare Group is seeking a licensed optometrist to perform comprehensive eye exams, educate patients on eyecare, and promote eye health within a dynamic practice.

You will build long-term patient relationships, evaluate ocular health, and provide vision care including prescribing glasses, contacts, and medications as appropriate. This role emphasizes patient education and collaborative care with support staff.

Qualifications

• Doctorate of Optometry from a credentialed institution.
• Must have passed all optometric state boards.

Responsibilities

• Conduct eye exams.
• Establish long-term patient relationships through proper patient care and education.
• Verbal interview with patient prior to examination to determine health and ocular history, medical issues, reasons for visit and visual needs.
• Instructs, recommends and advises patients on options for remediation of ametropias, systemic and ocular disease, and visual needs; hand-off to support staff with recap discussion.
• Promote eye health by counseling patients and explaining lens choices and technology coatings.
• Perform vision tests and analyze results.
• Diagnose sight problems and eye diseases.
• Prescribe eyeglasses, contact lenses, and medications.
• Recommend treatments such as vision therapy or low-vision rehabilitation.
• Provide pre- and postoperative care after eye surgery; post-op examination after cataract or refractive procedures.
• Evaluate patients for diseases (e.g., diabetes) and refer to other providers as needed.
• Clearly communicate recommendations to opticians and sales staff on best lenses and coatings.
