Job summary

The Optometrist at Acuity Eyecare Group will conduct eye exams, assess ocular health, and strive to practice to the full capacity of their license while supporting practice growth.

You will educate patients, discuss remediation options for refractive errors and diseases, prescribe glasses, contacts, and medications, and provide pre- and postoperative care as needed.

Maintain strong patient relationships and collaborate with staff to recommend the best lenses and technologies available.

Qualifications

• Doctorate of Optometry from a credentialed institution.
• Must have passed all optometric state boards.

Responsibilities

• Establishing long term patient relationships through proper patient care and education.
• Verbal interview with patient prior to examination to determine health and ocular history, medical issues, reasons for visit and visual wants and needs.
• Instructs, recommends and advises patients as to options for remediation of ametropias, systemic and ocular disease; hands-off patient to staff with recap discussion.
• Ability to generate patient loyalty and promote the profession of Optometry and Acuity Eyecare Group values.
• Perform vision tests and analyze results.
• Diagnose sight problems such as nearsightedness or farsightedness and eye diseases.
• Prescribe eyeglasses, contact lenses, and medications.
• Provide pre- and postoperative eye care for surgeries and postoperative visits.
• Evaluate patients for diseases such as diabetes and refer to other healthcare providers.
• Promote eye health by counseling patients on cleaning/wearing contact lenses and frequency of examinations.
• Communicate recommendations to opticians and sales staff for best lenses and coatings.
