Job summary

EssilorLuxottica's TeamVision practice in Tuscaloosa is seeking an Optometric Technician to support doctors and ensure a smooth patient flow during eye exams. You will assist with tests, manage records, and help deliver a superior patient experience with attention to HIPAA compliance and accuracy.

The role requires strong communication, solid healthcare experience, and the ability to work weekends/evenings as needed.

Qualifications

• 2+ years’ experience in optometry, ophthalmology or healthcare setting.
• Knowledge of optical and medical terminology.
• Understanding of optical equipment and diagnostic testing.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment.
• Optometric technician certification (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Assists with patient care and eye exams, including managing patient records and supporting patient flow throughout the exam.
• Performs tests to aid the optometrist with vision examinations including visual acuity measurements, depth and color perception tests, and retinal imaging.
• Reviews prescriptions and patient information for accuracy and consults with Optometrist or Practice Manager when necessary.
• Supports contact lens exams and orders, including contact lens care and patient orders.
• Operates the point-of-sale system and processes sales transactions following standard procedures.
• Maintains a safe, HIPAA-compliant work environment and supports exam room cleanliness.
