Responsibilities

• Reviews patient charts to ensure completeness and accuracy of information.
• Performs testing required by the type of exam scheduled, patient complaint, and history.
• Acts as a scribe while the physician enters data into EMR or paper chart and oversees patient flow.
• Takes ocular and systemic history and records visual acuity.
• Performs lensometry, refractometry, applanation tonometry, and basic muscle balance testing.
• Administers topical ophthalmic or oral medications under the physician's direction.
• Assists with in-office procedures, ensures informed consent, and maintains exam rooms.
• Maintains cleanliness and orderliness; complies with regulations.
• Understands responsibility to report potential errors to supervisors.
• Maintains a positive, professional attitude.
• Other duties as assigned.
