Responsibilities

• Reviews patient charts to ensure completeness and accuracy of information.
• Acts as a scribe while the physician examines patients and enters data into EMR or paper charts.
• Takes ocular and systemic history and records visual acuity.
• Performs lensometry, refractometry, and tonometry; basic muscle balance testing and anterior segment assessment.
• Administers topical ophthalmic medications under physician direction.
• Assists with in-office procedures, ensuring proper informed consent and cleanup.
• Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of exam rooms during the day.
• Complies with practice procedures and regulations; reports potential errors to supervisors.
