Job summary

AEG is seeking an Optometric Technician to support optometrists and provide exceptional patient care. You will conduct pre‑testing, assist with diagnostic testing, schedule appointments, and help maintain accurate patient records.

This full‑time onsite role requires familiarity with eye‑care terminology, certification such as CPO/CPOA/CPOT, and strong teamwork. You will handle insurance forms, communicate with patients, and contribute to a smooth, high‑quality experience from check‑in to

Qualifications

• Experience evaluating patients for eye exams.
• Familiarity with medical terms associated with eye treatment.
• Industry certification (CPO, CPOA, CPOT).
• High School or GED qualification.

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary evaluations of patients prior to exam by the Optometrist, such as dilation, topicals, diagnostic medications, Optomap, auto reflector, visual acuity, etc.
• Performs verbal interview with patient prior to visit with Optometrist to determine medical issues and reasons for their visit to provide details to Optometrist.
• Records and maintain patient records / files in compliance with company, federal, and state policies (HIPAA).
• Responds to patient telephone inquiries regarding medication, treatment, problems referring to the Optometrist as necessary.
• May be required to perform diagnostic testing using specialty equipment (OCT, Visual Field, Pachymetry, Retinal Camera. Etc.).
• Documents medical findings and communication between Optometrist and patient in Electronic Health Records(EHR) and assist with clerical duties related to medical documentation (participating practices only). Checking CPT codes, billings for post op, office visit etc.
