The optometric technician plays a key role in maintaining efficient patient flow by assisting the optometrist with pre-screenings and testing before examinations. No optical experience or certification is required; training will be provided!

Responsibilities:

• Ensure high-quality patient care.
• Maintain a professional environment in the office and pretest room.
• Understand ocular terminology, diseases, and abbreviations.
• Explain preliminary examinations to patients.
• Complete paperwork and perform testing prior to doctor examinations.
• Promote visual field testing and retinal screenings.
• Perform exam pre-screening.
• Review prescriptions and patient information, identifying special needs and consulting with relevant staff.
• Maintain equipment used by doctors and for pre-tests.

Qualifications:

• Fluent in English and Spanish (reading and speaking).
• Previous retail/optical experience preferred but not required.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Ability to learn optical knowledge quickly.
• Clear and concise communication skills.
• Effective interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Attention to detail.
• Multitasking and time-management abilities.
