Qualifications

  • Excellent customer service and communication are critical to this role.
  • 2+ years of experience in a similar setting or role is preferred.
  • CPO & CPOA are preferred qualifications.
  • Experience using electronic medical records is required or highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Pre-screen patients before they see the optometrist and administer diagnostic tests.
  • Gather patient medical history and document accurately.
  • Communicate with doctors, staff, and patients throughout the visit.
  • Greet patients, answer phone calls, and schedule appointments.
  • Educate patients on insurance coverage and vision benefits.
  • Train patients on proper contact lens use and care.
  • Obtain insurance authorizations and verify benefits.
  • Post charges for exams, co-pays, and products sold.
  • Support team to achieve individual and group goals.
  • Document optometry exams and prescribed follow-up instructions.
