Job summary

Talentify in Riverside, CA seeks an ophthalmic assistant to support the Optometrist with eye examinations and patient care, including pre-testing and gathering history. You will document information and guide patients through the clinical experience with clear communication.

Responsibilities include preparing patients, performing tests, instructing on contact lenses, ordering lenses, administering eye drops, and assisting with front-desk tasks to ensure smooth patient flow.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of experience in a related field.
• Working knowledge of MS Office.
• Strong verbal communication for prioritizing tasks.
• Strong written communication for patient documentation.
• Excellent interpersonal and rapport-building skills.
• Ability to ask appropriate questions to identify patient needs.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to engage in virtual environments if remote/hybrid roles.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Optometrist with eye examinations and patient eye care, including pre-testing and taking patient history.
• Explain exam process and document information in the patient record.
• Operate clinical instruments and administer tests to assess visual capabilities.
• Train patients on contact lens insertion and removal.
• Order contact lenses and manage trials inventory.
• Administer topical ophthalmic and dilation medications.
• Scribe for the doctor and translate as needed.
• Support patient flow, answer phones, verify insurance, and check in/out patients.
• Cross-train in departments and participate in special projects.
