Job summary

Southwest Eye Care in Hutchinson, MN, is hiring for an 0.8 FTE Optometric Assistant to join our values-based, patient-focused team. This four-day-a-week position supports doctors with patient histories, pretests, room prep, and front desk duties while providing optical and contact lens support.

The ideal candidate has strong multi-tasking abilities, excellent communication, and a passion for learning in a busy healthcare setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Three years related optical experience or customer service experience preferred.
• Travel to other offices required.

Responsibilities

• Take patient histories and visual acuities; perform pretests requested by doctors; prep exam rooms and close down after clinic.
• Perform front desk duties: answering phones, greeting patients, checking in, preparing charts, filing, verifying insurance, billing professional fees, scheduling appointments.
• Optical duties: frame selections, lens ordering, glasses adjustments, dispensing glasses/contacts, repairs, notifying patients when products are available.
• Contact lens responsibilities: orders, trials, and I&R classes.
• Order medical supplies and eye drops used during visits; stock management and cleaning the office.
• Other duties: reconcile monthly statements, order office supplies, travel to other offices.
